Architecture

The Island consist of few newly built homes. Most are refurbished older Victorian style cottages and all homes are detached dwellings built with local pine. The oldest of the buildings on the island is the light house which has been rebuilt three times.  The most recent of the three structures was constructed in 1867 and still stands today serving as a residential home.  The lighthouse is built of durable light colored brick because the first attempts were destroyed in powerful storms.  Most houses have ample sized decks or screened in porches for enjoyment of the lake breezes in the summer nights.
